Natural Cures For Hepatitis-Nutraceuticals

What are nutraceuticals?

Nutraceuticals are an advanced type of dietary supplement. Stephen de Felice, M.D., directo r of New York's Foundation for Innovation in Medicine, is credited with first use of the term. It describes specific chemical compounds found in foods that may prevent disease.

Nutraceuticals are becoming an attractive alternative because the high cost of prescription pharmaceuticals and reluctance of some insurance companies to cover the costs of drugs helps nutraceuticals solidify their presence in the global market of therapies and therapeutic agents.

Now that I understand the importance of them, and that we need to supplement with them, what kinds of nutraceuticals do we need to consume?

There are many systems in the human body that need nutritional support. We will focus on four special classes of phytochemical nutraceuticals. They are: plant sourced vitamins (including minerals and trace elements), antioxidants, phytosterols and the 8 essential monosaccarides (called glyconutrients when they are placed into a dietary supplement).

Plant Sourced Vitamins, Minerals and Trace Elements

Plant sourced vitamins, minerals, and trace elements are necessary substances providing the actual nutrition that feeds our cells.

Antioxidants

Free radicals can cause reactions resulting in cell damage. The body uses antioxidants to reduce the amount of chemical damage (oxidation) to the cells' components by free radicals.

Phytosterols

Supplementing necessary phytosterols/phytoestrogens may support your body's natural hormone production and balance. If this nutritional component is coupled with glyconutrients; theoretically, cells may recognize needs and functions to communicate efficiently and utilize needed hormones for an optimal functioning immune system.

8 Essential Monosaccarides (Glyconutrients)

The missing link between what we eat and what our bodies need for optimal health. Recent scientific research has shown that eight simple dietary sugars (monosaccharides), most of which are no longer found in abundance in the standard modern diet, are now known to form the very words of life at the cellular level. These sugars combine with proteins and fats to create glycoforms that coat the surface of virtually every cell in the body. Glycoforms function as cellular recognition molecules that communicate the messages a body needs to function in health.

For disease to start and then worsen, it must outmaneuver the many mechanisms of one of the most highly advanced systems ever designed....the human immune system.
The immune system remains as both your first and last defense against disease.

On a more personal note...

In June of 2004, my wife  LaDonna    was diagnosed with  autoimmune hepatitis after blood tests, a liver scan, and a liver biopsy revealed 85% damage. Her doctor recommended that she should consider a liver transplant as soon as possible.

In March of 2005, we were introduced to some new information related to nutrition that changed our lives forever. This information led to a safe, and effective treatment plan for LaDonna. This treatment plan led to a complete reversal of her  autoimmune hepatitis as indicated by a more recent biopsy.
